Last Tangle, 1976 10' X 7'
After fifteen rewarding and challenging years, Togonon Gallery closed its exhibition gallery at 77 Geary on January 8, 2012.
We want to extend our deepest gratitude to all of our supporters--artists, collectors, art professionals, colleagues, family, and friends. We look back with great fulfillment at the unique contribution the gallery made to the Bay Area art scene--exhibitions including contemporary art from Myanmar, parallel shows with the Asian Art Museum -Gold Standard- Asian-American and Asian artists from the mid-century show, a new-media show with Lynne Marie Kirby and Xaio Fei and Filipino American Art Now. We pioneered many group shows, the annual Counterpoint photography show, and biennial Crosscurrents exploring influences across continents. Lastly, we take enormous pride in our efforts to re-ignite the critical interest in the art of Leo Valledor, now showing as part of the 75th Anniversary Show at the San Francisco MOMA.
We plan to remain actively involved in the art community in the form of Julina Togonon Fine Arts: www.julinatogononfinearts.com and look forward to continuing our relationship with you.
We wish you all the best for 2012. Again, many thanks.
Julina Togonon and Rafael Musni
