JULINA TOGONON
Gallery Director

Julina Togonon co-founded Washington Square Gallery
in 1994, where she curated over 80 shows working with leading art
historians and art critics. The gallery was known for taking the
lead in promoting emerging artists of ethnic backgrounds, and focusing
on emerging and established artists primarily from the San Francisco
Bay Area and the West Coast. Examples of these shows include: Filipino
American Arts Exposition (Loob/Labas) featuring Filipino American
Women Artists (1996); Six Asian American Women Artists from the
Bay Area (1999); "Not From Concentrate" — emerging
Filipino American Artists (1999); West Coast Sculpture (2001); Emerging
Latino artists (2002).
In 2004, Julina curated the "Filipino American
Art Now" exhibition at the Asian Art Museum, San Francisco.
She has served as Visual Arts editor for A Magazine, an online magazine
that focused on Asian American art and culture and has lectured
on art collecting and marketing for visual artists. She served as
Board Member of the San Francisco Art Dealers Association (SFADA)
in 2003-04. During her tenure, she was instrumental in launching
the Art & Technology series with Apple's flagship store in downtown
San Francisco, which featured SFADA artists. She is currently a
board member of the New Pacific Studio (NPS), an international artist
residency program with programs in New Zealand and in the U.S.
Prior to her gallery work, Julina worked as a
management consultant implementing strategic planning, marketing
and fundraising projects. She earned an MBA from San Francisco State
University School of Business in 1990 with an emphasis on marketing.
RAFAEL MUSNI
Associate Gallery Director

Rafae Musni is curator for the photography and
sculpture exhibitions at Togonon Gallery. His experience in Fine
Arts began as an undergraduate in the film program at San Francisco
State University where he obtained his degree in Film Theory. He
continued post graduate studies in films in Montreal, Canada and
Paris, France. He has also served as a docent for the San Francisco
Museum of Modern Art.
Additionally, Rafael was a founding partner of the Pacific Ethnographic
Research Society, which has mounted research expeditions to the
island of Mindanao, Philippines. He has curated exhibitions of Philippine
traditional art at the Asian Art Museum, San Francisco's Zeum and
Pusod Gallery in Berkeley, California.
