About the Show

Togonon Gallery is pleased to present Indefinite Path, an exhibition of works by Italian-born, Toyko-based photographer Leonardo Pellegatta. As a collaborative exhibition organized with MC2 gallery of Milan, Italy and curated by Fabiola Gironi, Indefinite path speaks about a poetic journey, and documents the artist’s experience of being in motion between Japan and Italy. As Pellegatta explains: Words following images, following colors, following places… and indefinite memories, indefinite paths. Everything is in motion, becoming. My life and my daughter’s life are suspended between two worlds: east and west, personal and objective…. We all have our own vision of reality, and reality is transforming itself in every single moment.

Pellegatta’s work focuses on expressing the inaccessible distance between our personal memories and the factual “objective idea” of the physical world. His collection of photographs is a journey towards a destination across uncertain paths and unresolved memories. Landscape, memories, and colors appear closer to feelings, intertwined with light and the moments of life. Pellegatta’s works have been exhibited in private galleries and public spaces in Paris, Zurich, Milan, Shangai, Tokyo, and New York.

A book accompanies the show with text by Shinji Ishii (Rourou, Shanghai,2006). Every copy of the book includes a unique original print signed by the artist. Limited Edition of 250; last 10 copies available during this exhibition.
