Ariel Erestingcol addresses issue of contemporary politics and society in his innovative multimedia artworks. His most recent series, entitled “Please Stand By: Anxiety in the Age of YouTube, “ confronts a post-9/11 society burdened with an enhanced awareness of its own vulnerability. In interactive sculptures and wall-installations, the artist confronts public anxiety in an age dominated by novel forms of mass media and social networking. Erestingcol’s finished artworks combine both high and low-technologies, as well as exceptionally labor-intensive practice. Ariel Erestingcol completed hi B.F.A at the San Francisco Art Institue and went on to earn his M.F.A. at Cal Arts in Los Angeles, where he currently lives and works.
